Class four: Producing digital content
This final class in the four classes constituting the certificate in On Line Teaching and Learning at Governors State University was a useful one. Week1: Reviews basic options for developing media-rich courses that take full advantage of the Internet, looks at some of the general guidelines for developing effective course pages, and reviews accessibility issues that must be addressed in producing digital content for online courses.

Week 2: Provides an overview of learning management systems and focuses on the design and development of a basic course shell using a selected learning management system.

Week 3: Accessibility compliance tools. Review of tools available to evaluate the accessibility of online course content.

Week 4: Focuses on learning management system tools that are used to create content structure and the development and population of course units with content files.
The webct tutorials were provided and saved for communication tools. No other information was given to other learning management systems.
Week 5: Introduces students to the primary communication tools available in learning management systems and reviews effective pedagogical uses for these tools.
Wect tutorials were used and I saved them all!
Week 6: Introduces students to learning management system tools used to assess student learning and to the digital grade book.
This was interesting and saved tutorial about marking discussion grades (see personal files)
Week 7: Digital Images: Techniques for acquiring images, preparing images for use in online courses, inserting images into content pages.

Week 8: Sound and Video: Introduction to the use of sound and video in web courses, techniques for creating sound and video files, options for presenting sound and video material.

Weeks 11- 12: Provides students with an opportunity to practice the use of the tools presented to date and to complete the development of course project pages.
Overall, the course was aimed towards use of one LMS--Blackboard/webct. This course was really helpful at assisting me to create a course with more sophisictaed tools for the students benefit.
